Duties:
  • Reports to the Director of Student Development and Judicial Officer
  • Maintains overall responsibility for the publication’s content and quality
  • Reviews all materials prior to publication
  • Recruits, mentors, advises and supports student newspaper staff members
  • Advises editorial board on content
  • Instructs students on journalism principles and techniques
  • Assists with story ideas
  • Attends weekly newspaper staff meetings
  • Accompanies students on field trips as appropriate
  • Assures student representation at Student Government Association meetings and required functions
  • Assists editorial board with all writing, editing, layout and design
  • Maintains overall responsibility for newspaper-owned equipment and supplies
  • Approves all newspaper expenditures consistent with Student Activities policies
  • Assists editorial board with annual review of club constitution and related SGA materials
  • Related club advisor duties.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related subject.
  • Higher education teaching experience.
  • Strong computer literacy to include word processing.
